This wiki contains thousands of tools, allowing to classify by function and targeted biological domain. It is really helpful for many of us to find the best tools for our data. But it needs a continue maintenance and improvement. It was decided to give freedom to people to classify the tools, this way any kind of novel methods, or targeted function could appear easily. But this caused an over-representation of terms, and makes difficult the task to find what one is looking for. We are asking to all people to help to clean the wiki, removing redundant terms, collapsing synonymous by the most used, and organizing the terms in the right space. Here you have some tips to do this easily and quickly.

What would be the consequence of that:

  1. For developers: easily to find your tool, as consequence, more citations
  2. For researcher interested in tool benchmarking: easily to use all possible tools, as consequence, improve your research, as consequence, more citations
  3. For users: easily to find what you need

we want to simplify the classification to reduce the number of terms in each category: Bioinformatic method and Biological domain

A clear example: look for chip-seq word in the http://seqanswers.com/wiki/Special:BrowseData, you will see that appears at both category which is not correct. It should appear only at Biological domain, and the Bioinformatic method should be peak calling.

That's the kind of help we are looking for. Please read the following links to know more about it.
